Garden State Gettin' Rowdy: Today!

Lambda legal today, officially petitioned the New Jersey State Supreme Court to remedy that state's legislature's failure to remedy its flawed civil union law.

The San Diego Gay and Lesbian News has a good overview of the time line in the case, as well as a description of the petition:

"...Hayley Gorenberg, deputy legal director at Lambda Legal (said) "Civil unions are a failed legislative experiment in providing equality in New Jersey - marriage equality is the only solution.""

I used to live in NJ, which was also one of the first states to grant women the right to vote in 1790. That right was revoked less than twenty years later.

Sound familiar?

Let's keep our fingers crossed and wish our Garden State brothers and sisters good luck.
